The core idea of Heart Sutra is “emptiness”. Everything appears to human beings that they have solid and stand-alone essence and traits. People’s emotion are chained on everything they care and they suffer from this on daily basis. Buddhism indicates that things are in fact ever-changing and nothing lasts forever; hence the essence common to everything is in fact emptiness. With the thorough understanding of emptiness, Buddhism suggests, people will eventually gain the peace of mind.
